East Delhi Municipal Corporation
About
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) was one of the three civic bodies established in 2012 when the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was trifurcated to enhance administrative efficiency in managing Delhi's growing population and urban challenges. The EDMC was responsible for providing municipal services to the eastern regions of Delhi, focusing on areas such as sanitation, public health, education, infrastructure maintenance, and community welfare.
Reunification into Municipal Corporation of Delhi
On May 22, 2022, the three separate entities—East Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, and South Delhi Municipal Corporation—were reunified into a single entity known as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. This reunification aimed to streamline operations, reduce administrative redundancies, and improve the delivery of civic services across the entire city. The head office of the unified MCD is located at Dr. S.P. Mukherjee Civic Center, JLN Marg, New Delhi-110002.
