DNP Limited (DNPL) is a Government of Assam undertaking established on June 15, 2007, under the Companies Act, 1956. It operates as a joint venture involving Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL), Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), and Oil India Limited (OIL). The company's primary objective is to facilitate the transportation of natural gas from Duliajan to Numaligarh, specifically to supply NRL.
Establishment and Background
The genesis of DNPL dates back to 2004 when AGCL envisioned a project to transport natural gas to NRL. This vision materialized through agreements: on March 17, 2005, OIL and NRL signed a gas supply agreement for sourcing gas from Madhuban in Duliajan to NRL, followed by a gas transportation agreement between AGCL and NRL on June 27, 2005.
